OUR STORY

"PASTOR MELVIN AND DENISE MCCLEESE ANSWER THE CALL TO CREATE A PLACE OF SUSTAINED PRAYER AND WORSHIP"

In 2002, Pastor Melvin McCleese, and Tina Torres of New Lif e Providence  Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia visited the Kansas City International House of Pryaer for the ONE THING Conference. From that conference, Ms. Torres returned to NLP with a strong desire to establish a Harp and Bown venue in the Virginia Beach area of Hampton Roads.

After some planning, Elder Chris Cunningham,Pastor Melvin, and Tina Torres began that Harp and Bowl venue with the name of "King's Chamber". King's Chamber was a prayer meeting that met every Friday evening from 7 to 9 pm. It had approximately 50 volunteers made up of singers, musicians, and prayer leaders and remained in a focused place of prayer for eight years.

In February 2011, there was a regional gathering of prayer movements in Virginia called 24/7 Virginia. At this gathering, the leadership, Sherri Moore of Richmond House of Prayer and David Bradshaw of Fredericksburg Prayer Furnace, issued a prophetic call to Pastor Melvin and his wife Denise McCleese "to be like Anna in the place of prayer and as we stand still in this place of prayer we will go deeper". After which the processof making the venue of King's Chamber to a House of Prayer began.

As of November 2012, our prayer watches are currently Monday through Friday, 6 to 9pm. Our watch teams are taking on the issues of our day with prayer and worship. Some of the prayer focuses include; the end of sex trafficking, the ending of abortion, the restoration of families, etc. We also commit some of our time to undergirding the leadership of New Life Providence Church.

We wait in expectancy to see what the Lord will do through the Watchmen House of Prayer in the future as we continue to stand on the wall fortifying a sustained place of prayer and worshop for the Hampton Roads area.
